Sebila's Comments:
I am not crafty at all, but thought a diaper cake idea was something so cute for a baby shower. I hosted a shower for a friend and she had never been to a shower before or seen a diaper cake (she is from another country). So I thought it would be very interesting to make the diaper cake.
I used diapers size 1. One thing I did not realize is that some of the diapers were not completely white, but it still worked.
I got small and large rubber bands
Thick brown ribbon
Baby blue ribbon with 'It's a boy'
Baby blue ribbon no text
Thin baby blue ribbon
blue plastic pacifiers
large baby blue bow (I bought it already made as a bow).
I also used 1 large and 1 small baby bottle that I already had
I rolled the daipers and put rubber bands around them. I also put the thin ribbon arround the bottom, and tied it in bows.
then I put them around the large baby bottle, and then fastened it all with the large rubber band. Then I built the second and 3rd layer the same way, but not using the thin blue ribbon.
I then put the brown ribbon around each layer. I glued it with wax glue (something I had from candle making. I then put the blue ribbon around the brown ribbon on the top and bottom layers, but the "it's a boy" ribbon in the middle. I tied the pacifiers around the 2nd layer with the thin ribbon.
Finally, I put the bow on top!
I wanted a very 'elegant' diaper cake, that looked good but did not have too much going on. Everyone was very impressed. I loved making it so much, I'm making another one this weekend for a baby shower for a baby girl!
